Shmyhal: Ukraine will attract almost €62 million from the European Investment Bank for energy projects
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved key documents that will enable the country to secure an additional €62 million in financing for its energy sector. The money will be provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB).
This development was reported by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. He highlighted the importance of these funds for critical infrastructure projects.
«At today’s government meeting, we are adopting two documents that will allow Ukraine to attract an additional almost €62 million in financing from the European Investment Bank», — said Shmyhal.
The funds will be allocated to essential areas like social infrastructure, energy, heat supply, and other key projects within local communities.
- Shmyhal also noted that the coalition supporting Ukraine’s recovery and financial stability now includes numerous countries. More partners joining the effort.
In addition, the Swiss government has committed to contributing 1.5 billion Swiss francs for Ukraine’s reconstruction projects over the next four years. This was confirmed by the Ministry of Infrastructure following a meeting between Oleksiy Kuleba, Ukraine’s Minister of Community and Territorial Development, and Felix Baumann, Switzerland’s Ambassador to Ukraine and Moldova.
The Swiss commitment will focus on various sectors. CHF 1 billion will go to self-governance, demining, and humanitarian aid. The remainder will support broader reconstruction efforts. Swiss private sector involvement is expected to be a key part of this process. It will aid in the creation of new jobs within Ukrainian regions.
Ambassador Baumann emphasized his first-hand understanding of Ukraine’s needs, gained through multiple visits to different regions while serving as ambassador.
