Iryna Solomko
Biography
“Hromadske Radio for me is a space of freedom and responsibility. It's a new quality of Ukrainian journalism, which step by step transforms the quality of Ukrainian community.”
Iryna graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv with a degree in journalism. She is also a scholar of the Centre of Journalism Investigations - City University London (Great Britain) and International Visitor Leadership Program of International Program of US State Department. She is an alumna of the School of Political Science and Program of Economic Journalism Impact Media.
She worked for the magazine Korespondent for almost 10 years, conducting high-profile investigations and interviewing such public figures as Yurii Ivanushenko, Tony Blair, Paul Krugman, Vlad Filat, Alan Dershowitz, Michele Platini, and others.
After a change in management at Korespondent in the autumn of 2013 shifted its priorities towards a pro-government stance, Iryna quit at the season’s end and joined the team of Hromadske Radio. Since then, working with Hromadske Radio has confirmed in Iryna the Nietzschean motto that “He who has a why to live can bear almost any how.”
