Natalka Didenko

“Weather is the best topic for conversation in the world and it always unites strangers. That is why, I suppose, that a synoptics’ job is the best. I hope that one day my predictions will become popular all around the world. In my opinion, forecasts must be simple, accurate and useful, and should not include only abstract theories”.

Natalka graduated from Taras Shevhenko Univesity of Kyiv with a degree in geography.  For almost 20 years she worked for the Weather Centre, until one day she was drawn to radio as a synoptic. The initial experience was confirmation that she was in that right place. With no turning back from that point on, Natalka found a way to combine meteorology with media. Since 2000, she worked as an editor and forecast presenter for such networks as the First National TV channel, Novy Channel, Inter Channel, 1+1 Channel, City Channel, Pogoda TV Channel. She worked as an independent synoptic and consulted travel agencies, wrote blogs on social media and the website Gazeta.ua, and co-worked with the Ukrainian Magazine NatGeo.

Since the spring of 2014, Natalka has worked at Hromadske Radio, providing reports which she feels can finally be “of use and benefit to our society” while also “at the same time stay[ing] free and creative.” She typically can be found working with her fluffy companion, her cat Apelmon.
