In Mariupol Russian forces launched several air strikes on a hospital in the city’s center. The bombs devastated both the children’s and maternity wards.

Mariupol’s City Council reports that the children’s hospital has been completely destroyed. “The destruction is immense. The medical facility, that until recently treated children, is completely destroyed. Information regarding injuries sustained by children is still being verified,” said the City Council.

The area surrounding the hospital:

The maternity ward has also been destroyed, writes former First Deputy Chief of the National Police of Ukraine Vyacheslav Abroskin.

“According to eyewitnesses, Russian forces fired at the maternity hospital in Mariupol. The maternity ward no longer exists, many women have been wounded or killed,” he said.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyi posted a video taken inside the remains of the hospital. He wrote:

“Mariupol. The Russian army hit a maternity ward. People are under the rubble. Chidden are under the rubble. This is appalling! How much longer will the world be complicit by ignoring terror? Close the sky immediately! Stop the killing immediately! You have the power. But you seem to be losing your humanity.”

In Mariupol, during the course of two weeks of war, as a result of shooting and the deliberate targeting of civilians approximately 1170 peaceful residents have been killed. 47 people were buried in a mass grave on Mar. 9.

As a result of this siege a six-year-old girl died of dehydration, reported deputy mayor Sergey Orlov.

The humanitarian corridor, which Russia agreed to, from Mariupol to Zaporizhia is constantly being shelled, hindering the safe evacuation of civilians.
