The Pentagon estimates that Russia has fired more than 1,370 missiles in Ukraine, reported ABC News referencing a representative of the US Department of Defense.

According to the representative, Russian troops around Kyiv have stopped advancing on the city, but are continuing to conduct long-range fire.

The Pentagon says that Russian troops were 15-20 km from Kyiv in the northwest and 55 km in the east.

The situation remains static, except for attempts by the Ukrainian military to oust the Russians from the capital, the representative added.

Meanwhile, Kherson remains a «disputed territory,» said a US official.

Earlier on Friday, an official said, Kherson which was captured by Russia at the start of the war, is no longer under the full control of the occupying forces.
