On the night of January 2, 2024, the enemy opted for a repeat of a large-scale air assault, resembling the one that occurred just a few days earlier on December 29, 2023.

As reported by General Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at 07:30, ten X-47M2 Kinzhal aerial ballistic missiles were launched from MiG-31K fighters. Fortunately, all 10 Kinzhal missiles were successfully intercepted and neutralized.

To summarize, on the morning of January 2, Russia launched a significant attack on Ukraine utilizing a combination of drones and missiles. The assault primarily focused on Kyiv and Kharkiv, the country’s second-largest city, resulting in substantial damage and casualties in both locations. Preliminary data indicates that the enemy deployed 99 missiles of various types. Through collaborative efforts between the Air Force and the Ukrainian Defence Forces, 72 out of the 99 missiles and all 35 Shahed-136/131 strike UAVs were successfully destroyed.
