Hromadske Radio needs your help. Your help, our dear listeners and readers, everyone who has been with us on this complicated path, for many years. And of those who have joined us recently. Because freedom of speech is priceless, yet it costs a lot.
During the full-scale war, several colleagues or their near and dear joined the defense of our country, they went to fight with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Hromadske Radio’s co-founder and human rights activist, Maksym Butkevych was captured by Russians and came back as a result of POW exchange on 18 October 2024.
Over this hard time, Hromadske Radio organized several collections to support Ukrainian fighters and their families.
Despite everything, we continued to do our job. We were covering everything that was happening to our country and to ourselves in a fast, determined and transparent way, and remained the Hromadske Radio that is in the very center of events, inalienable from our society. Hromadske Radio was also the voice of truth and support during the occupation of Kyiv Oblast and other regions of Ukraine.

Our priority remains broadcasting in frontline and occupied territories. At the moment, Russia has blocked.
Hromadske Radio in the temporarily occupied territories, but we have produced the guidelines and opportunity to read us in the occupied territories.
Over the time of the full-scale onslaught, the Russian invaders have captured or destroyed 9 of Hromadske Radio’s transmitters located at the frontline or in the occupied territories, in the cities of Zorynivka, Lysychansk, Volnovakha, Mariupol, Bilolutsk, Hirnyk, Bilovodsk, Starobilsk, Bakhmutivka, and Pokrovsk.
Hromadske Radio began broadcasting in Pokrovsk, Donetsk Oblast, on 28 Augusr 2024. On 17 September, the Russian army destroyed the transmitting equipment used, in particular, by Hromadske Radio and a local TV channel, KAPRI.
Despite everything, we survived and found finance and resources on our own, and continued to evolve. We got new frequencies. We launched new programs, such as «In the Line of Fire«, «Someone Loves Someone«, «Next to Our Defenders«, «Volunteer Fighters«, «Severe Reprimand«, «To See the Invisible«, «Women Taming Business«, «Communities«, «The Way Back Home«, «Wherever I Stand, I Shall Withstand«, and many other important projects and podcasts.
In 2024, Hromadske Radio was again listed among the 205 media from all the regions of Ukraine which made it to the interactive Recommended Media Map as a result of the 3rd wave of monitoring. Hromadske Radio also made it to the White List of the highest quality Ukrainian online media.
We have also received certification from the Journalism Trust Initiative (JTI), based on the standard initiated by Reporters Without Borders (RSF). This award testifies to the transparency and observance of professional media standards, recognized the world over.
Despite constant cyberattacks against Hromadske Radio’s web site and social network pages, we continueв to gain new audiences.
We dared to leave Telegram, linked with Russia, and we have stopped filling our web site’s Russian-language pages.
Nevertheless, in 2024, Hromadske Radio has increased the reach of its YouTube channel sevenfold, reached million-strong audiences in social networks and on the Ukrainian-language web site pages, as well as increased the number of radio listeners.
This all means that you, our audience, value the existence of an objective media, not succumbing to panic, while also not trumpeting hope when hope is not there.
We do want to preserve Hromadske Radio for you.
