Russian occupation forces continue to advance on the small but strategically important city of Siversk, attacking it from three sides. However, the invaders have not had any tangible success so far, and the propagandists’ statements about the «capture» of Bilohorivka are not true.

This was reported by Radio Liberty correspondent Serhii Horbatenko on Hromadske Radio.

According to him, the Siversk direction has become more active on the frontline, which has been singled out.

«Earlier, Russian troops tried to attack Siversk from four directions. These are the villages of Razdolivka, Vyymka, Verkhnekamyanka, and Bilohorivka.

Now the enemy activity in the Verkhnekamianka direction has slightly decreased, and the occupiers are trying to capture Siversk from three sides. The fighting is very intense. The last advance recorded by DeepState analysts was on May 9, east of the village of Vesele (south of Siversk). Vesele village was occupied back in February this year. Fortunately, after May 9, the occupiers failed to achieve any tactical, let alone strategic, success», — the correspondent said.

At the same time, he said that the village of Bilohorivka, which is located near Serebryanske forestry, east of Siversk, is not under the control of the Russian occupation forces, despite the statements of local propagandists.

«There are fierce battles for Bilohorivka. If you look at the General Staff’s report, you can see that Russian troops are losing dozens of vehicles and a lot of personnel on the eastern outskirts of Bilohorivka. The fighting is fierce, but in fact, there are no successes for the occupiers», — said Horbatenko.

He also explained why the small town of Siversk is important for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the enemy army:

«Firstly, there is a railway connecting Bakhmut through the town, and there is also a branch to the town of Lyman. If Russian troops reached Siversk, unfortunately, they would be able to solve several problems, including getting behind the Ukrainian group in the Serebryansky forest. In the long term, they could reach the administrative borders of the city of Sloviansk».
