Nastya died on May 30 as a result of an accident. She worked as a war correspondent in the hottest spots of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
Hromadske Radio CEO Kyrylo Lukerenko attended the funeral and burial of Anastasia, who also worked with Hromadske Radio.
“Several dozen people came to say goodbye, mostly journalists, but also the military and people who knew her personally. The funeral service took place in the Church of the Holy Spirit in the very center of the city. This is the church she attended. As her friends told me, Nastya was planning to get married in the fall, and the wedding was to be held in this church. It was a very difficult farewell. She was buried in the central alley of the cemetery in Sloviansk. Her fiancé Artem and friends said goodbye to Nastya. The family members recall that Nastya was brave, courageous, had a great sense of humor, and she will be greatly missed.»
Nastya’s friend Maryna Tereshchenko said:
“Nastya was very brave. She also had a laugh unlike any other. If she laughed, everyone around her laughed… I miss her laugh so much. She was frank and sincere, straightforward, said what she thought, and for this she was very much respected by both the military and civilians. She was easy to talk to.
She studied to be an editor, and wrote very cool books in her student years. Then she was fascinated by television journalism. She was often told that she had a lot of flaws and that nothing would work out, but you see how persistent she is. She succeeded. She was an incredible journalist, overcame many of her fears, coped with everything, and worked very hard…»
