Russians damaged 17 private houses in Nikopol over the last day — Hromadske Radio correspondent
Nikopol continues to endure relentless Russian shelling, resulting in the destruction of approximately 7,000 infrastructure facilities including residential buildings, medical facilities, and schools. Despite the devastation, a significant number of civilians remain in the city.
This was reported by Anna Tsiluyko, our correspondent in Nikopol, on Hromadske Radio.
“Over the past day, around 17 private houses, numerous cars, solar panels, and critical infrastructure were damaged in the city. The shelling continued into the morning. The State Emergency Service just reported an attack on a parking lot. Four cars were completely burned out. The alarms and explosions persist without respite; we feel the Russians’ presence every day and night», — said Tsiluyko.
According to her, the Russians initially used Grad multiple rocket launchers to shell Nikopol, which began two years ago. Subsequently, they also employed Uragan MLRS, cannon artillery, and FPV drones.
“It takes three to seven seconds for shells to reach us, so only electronic warfare systems protect us from drones, but unfortunately, there is no defense against artillery. We have statistics showing that nearly 2,500 shells have been fired at Nikopol over the past two years of shelling.»
The correspondent noted that the population of Nikopol has become accustomed to the shelling, and many civilians, including children, have chosen to remain in the city.
“Currently, they are particularly concerned about power outages and heating. There are areas in Nikopol where electricity is unavailable for six, eight, or even nine hours. Emergency and attack-related outages are frequent on the energy infrastructure», — Tsiluyko added.
