Second Ukrainian corvette Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi launched in Turkey
On August 1st, the Ukrainian corvette Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi was launched in Turkey. This is the second warship of this class built in Turkey by order of Ukraine.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Navy.
«On 1 August, the launching ceremony of the second corvette-class multi-purpose ship, which is being built by the Turkish shipbuilding company STM by order of the Ukrainian Navy, took place at the Istanbul Shipyard Naval in Istanbul, Turkey.«
It is noted that the «godmother» of the corvette, as in the case of its predecessor, the Hetman Ivan Mazepa, was First Lady Olena Zelenska.
«She broke a bottle of champagne on the hull of the ship built for Ukraine. According to maritime traditions, it is believed that from that moment on, the corvette officially received its own name – Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi.«
The warship launching ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Defence of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, the Commander of the Ukrainian Navy Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa, the People’s Deputy of Ukraine, Hero of Ukraine Mustafa Dzhemilev, and the management of the company implementing the project.
