Enemy is 5 km from Myrnohrad: authorities call for evacuation
The occupiers have come close to the Pokrovsk district, particularly to the city of Myrnohrad in Donetsk Region. Authorities are calling for evacuation due to the approach of Russian troops.
Volodymyr Zamotayev, head of the Pokrovsk district state administration and the district military administration, discussed the security situation and evacuation efforts on Hromadske Radio.
«The security situation in the Pokrovsk district remains very difficult. The front line is dynamic and moving further.»
The head of the district state administration notes that active hostilities continue, accompanied by constant shelling of the communities.
«The occupiers are 5 kilometers away from Myrnohrad and Selydove.»
Local residents are urged to evacuate to safer areas. Zamotayev notes that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, there have been 2,039 wounded civilians and 681 deaths, including 17 children killed and 102 others wounded.
«During the forced evacuation period (two weeks), 2,684 children have been evacuated. Since August 7, about 15,000 people have been evacuated from these communities, including 2,747 children.»
As of August 15, 1,672 children still remain in the Pokrovsk district. Specifically, there are 1,010 children in Myrnohrad and 241 children in the towns of Ukrainsk and Tsukurino.
Zamotayev says that evacuation is a very difficult issue for the residents of the Pokrovsk district.
«Everyone has their own homes, some have gardens. However, people understand that life is paramount, so they are cooperating with the evacuation measures.»
The head of the district state administration also thanks the SES units and the White Angels for their coordinated work during the evacuation from the dangerous areas of the Pokrovsk district. He adds that there are about 10 mobile evacuation units, and many residents are evacuating using their own transport.
Evacuated residents are taken to safe locations and then transported by train to the city of Dnipro. Evacuation by train to the Rivne region is organized every 7 days, and starting in September, evacuations will be carried out by train to Volyn Oblast.
Residents are hosted by regional administrations and provided with everything they need.
