Zelensky: Today Ukraine wins the hearts of the whole world

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed Ukrainians on Independence Day.

The President posted his address on Facebook.

“We will not allow the land where the blue and yellow flag should rightfully be to be turned into a grey zone. We will not allow a sick old man from Red Square, who constantly threatens us with a red button, to dictate to us any of his red lines. Only Ukraine and Ukrainians will determine how to live, what path to take, and what choices to make. This is how independence works», — he said.

He also added that sooner or later, every point in the Russian Federation that poses a danger to Ukraine will receive a Ukrainian response “with interest.”

“Ukraine. Our land. Given by God. Kissed by the sun. Lulled by the winds. Tempered by fire. Protected by its sons and daughters», — the president said.

Zelenskyy emphasized that justice will prevail sooner or later. What the enemy was bringing to our country, he now has on his own territory.

“This is how independence works.»

The President noted that his appeal was made in the border region of Sumy, where the “boomerang for evil” began.

“913 days ago, Russia waged war on us through Sumy region, among other things. It violated not only sovereign borders, but also the limits of cruelty and common sense. It was endlessly striving for one thing: to destroy us. Instead, today we celebrate the 33rd Independence Day of Ukraine.»

Zelenskyy stressed that Ukrainians do not covet foreign regions. What we need is peace and tranquillity along the entire border of Ukraine.

The Independence Day of Ukraine

As a reminder, today, 24 August, Ukraine celebrates its Independence Day. This marks the 33rd anniversary of the tireless struggle for freedom.

Today is also a day of remembrance for all those who gave their lives for these values.

The Independence Day is celebrated in honor of the adoption of the Act of Independence of Ukraine by the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR in 1991. This political and legal document confirmed the new status of the Ukrainian state.

On the occasion of National Flag Day and Independence Day of Ukraine, 486 events are expected to be held in various regions (except Donetsk, Luhansk, Sumy, and Kherson). The National Police has deployed the maximum number of law enforcement officers to ensure security.

On 24 August, Ukraine’s Independence Day, 144 events will take place.

The US Embassy in Ukraine has also warned that, as Independence Day approaches, which is celebrated on 24 August, Russian missile and drone attacks may intensify both at night and during the day.
