Head of Pokrovsk District State Administration: 1784 children remain in Pokrovsk
The situation in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk Region is worsening daily. There are still 10,478 children in the district, including 1,784 in Pokrovsk itself. Starting from 28 August, some settlements in the Pokrovsk community will have a curfew in effect from 15:00 to 11:00.
This information was announced on Hromadske Radio by Volodymyr Zamotaiev, head of the Pokrovsk District State Administration and the district military administration.
According to Zamotaiev, active hostilities continue in the Pokrovsk district, with constant shelling affecting the residents. Those living in Myrnohrad, as well as all settlements of the Kurakhivska, Hrodivska, Selidivska, Novohrodivska, and Pokrovska communities, are directly experiencing the conflict.
Zamotaiev reported that 726 infrastructure facilities and 15,000 residential buildings have been destroyed in the Pokrovsk since the start of the full-scale invasion. In the Pokrovsk community specifically, 97 infrastructure facilities and more than 1,500 residential buildings have been damaged. However, compared to the cities in other communities, Pokrovsk has suffered less damage. According to Zamotaiev, there are relatively safer areas in the city.
An active phase of evacuation is currently underway in the Pokrovsk district, with the National Police and the State Emergency Service leading the effort. Volunteers and charities are also actively participating in the evacuation process.
Zamotaiev stated that a total of 5,888 children have already been forcibly evacuated from the Novohrodiv, Hrodiv, Selidiv, Kurakhiv, Myrnohrad, and Pokrovsk territorial communities.
«Pokrovsk district is large in terms of population, so there are still 10,478 children there (as of the morning of 29 August),» said Zamotaiev. «The work on forced evacuation is ongoing and has been intensified. The White Angel crews are constantly working. In the city of Pokrovsk, as of today (29 August), 36,651 people remain, including 1,784 children.«
As a reminder, nearly 600 people leave the Pokrovsk community in Donetsk Oblast every day, including families with children.
The occupiers are approaching Pokrovsk. As Zamotaiev mentioned on 16 August, the enemy is now 10.5 kilometers from the city.
