The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has codified and approved a defensive fragmentation grenade for use in the army. This is an analogue of the Soviet F-1.

This was reported by the Ministry’s press center.

«The Ukrainian-made ammunition meets the characteristics of modern melee weapons. We have never produced this type of grenade before.»

It is noted that the hand-held defensive fragmentation grenade is designed to target exposed enemy personnel. Due to its powerful effect, it should only be used from cover.

Additionally, the Ministry of Defence has codified and adopted a remote-action hand-held offensive grenade, an analogue of the Soviet RGD-5.

As a reminder, the Ministry of Defence has also codified and approved the Khorunzhy armoured personnel carrier for delivery to the Armed Forces. The Khorunzhy is the result of a deep modernization of the Soviet BTR-60.

«The Khorunzhy armoured personnel carrier can be produced in six variants: a standard armoured personnel carrier, a troop carrier, a medical evacuation vehicle, a repair and recovery vehicle, a command and staff vehicle, and a self-propelled mortar vehicle.»

The Ukrainian armoured personnel carrier’s hull is made of high-quality Finnish steel, which enhances the vehicle’s ballistic protection without adding weight. The hull is protected around the perimeter from 7.62 mm steel-core bullets, and its frontal armor can withstand shots from a large-caliber machine gun at a distance of 10 meters.

The design of the hull bottom, along with special mine-resistant seats, protects the troops from explosive devices equivalent to 6 kg of TNT.

Earlier, on August 24, the Ukrainian military used the Palianytsia drone missile against Russian forces for the first time.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this during the Independence Day celebrations.

According to him, the drone missile is a weapon of a «completely new class.» The use of this missile resulted in significant damage to the enemy, the president said.
