Zelensky to meet with Harris and Trump in the US

US Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris plans to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Washington next week. This was reported by Bloomberg, citing its sources.

Sources also indicate that Zelensky seeks to meet with US President Joe Biden in New York. It will happen on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. It will take place from September 24 to 30.

Kamala Harris has strongly endorsed President Joe Biden’s unwavering support for Ukraine’s defense against the Russian invasion, which began in February 2022.

«The meeting comes at a crucial time, as Russian forces have made some progress in the stalled conflict with winter approaching. During his visit to the United States, Zelensky is expected to advocate for NATO and European Union membership, economic and security agreements, and continued supplies of more advanced weapons as part of his «victory plan», — Bloomberg reported, citing individuals familiar with the matter.

Zelensky is expected to present this plan to Biden when they meet on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly later this month. He is also eager to discuss the plans with Harris and Trump.

Additionally, Zelensky is likely to meet with Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate. In response to questions from journalists about whether he would meet with Zelensky, Trump replied, «Probably yes.» At the same time, he provided no further details, Reuters reports.

During last week’s presidential debate, Donald Trump twice declined to answer whether he wanted Ukraine to win the war. Instead, he stated that he wants the fighting to stop and for the leaders of both countries to meet and negotiate a settlement.
