On October 8, 17 people were injured, and one person was killed in Kherson Region due to Russian shelling.

This was reported by Oleksandr Tolokonnikov, head of the press office of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, on Hromadske Radio.

Tolokonnikov noted that most of the 17 people injured over the past day were residents of Kherson. One person died following the shelling of a café in Antonivka, where five others were wounded with varying degrees of severity. In total, 10 people were hospitalized across the Kherson region on October 8, while six received outpatient care.

On the night of October 9, Russian forces attacked a geriatric center in the region. Two nurses were injured, sustaining wounds to their limbs, faces, and one with an abdominal injury. They were later hospitalized and treated.

«In Kherson and the surrounding region, almost all medical facilities within a 20-kilometre zone from the coast have been hit multiple times. Some are completely destroyed, while others are damaged. We are constantly making repairs and boarding up windows, but every new shelling undoes our efforts. The medical sector, like the humanitarian sector—educational institutions and administrative buildings—suffers continuously,» explained Tolokonnikov.

He added that relocating medical and geriatric institutions to safer areas is extremely challenging. Many of the wounded need immediate care, and specialized institutions, such as the Kherson Regional Oncology Dispensary, house equipment that has been in place for decades and cannot easily be moved.

As a response, an underground hospital is currently under construction in the Kherson community, though it is not yet complete.

Regarding the situation on the morning of October 9, Tolokonnikov described it as «more or less quiet.» However, a man injured in shelling was hospitalized earlier in the day. Additionally, around 10 a.m., Russian forces attacked and damaged a Ukrposhta vehicle delivering pensions in the village of Havrylivka.
