A Russian agent, who mobilized to adjust strikes on the Ukrainian Armed Forces, has been detained in Odesa Region

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained a Russian agent who infiltrated the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Odesa. He was providing the positions of Ukrainian military units to Russian special services.

This was reported by the SBU:

«The SBU has detained another «mole» from the Russian special services within the Armed Forces. He was attempting to adjust artillery fire onto his own unit.»

The detainee is a 30-year-old resident of Odesa who was recruited by Russian special services through Telegram. There he had been searching for part-time work.

Initially, the suspect completed a «test task» for the enemy. Then, in August 2024, following instructions from his Russian handler, he enlisted in one of the military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to law enforcement, his primary targets were the locations of training centers, military units in the Odesa and Vinnytsia regions, and air defense systems. The suspect was caught red-handed as he prepared to send secret coordinates to Russia.

«During the attack, the traitor planned to remain outside the military unit to continue adjusting artillery fire,» the report said.

During searches, the SBU found the agent’s mobile phone containing evidence of his collaboration with the enemy.

• SBU investigators have charged the suspect under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for high treason committed under martial law. He is currently in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

As a reminder, As a result of ballistic missile strikes in Odesa Region, 10 people were injured, with six remaining in serious condition. The death toll from the ballistic missile attacks has risen to seven. In the morning, a 46-year-old port worker succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
