On the night of October 11, the occupiers attacked Odesa with ballistic missiles. As a result, a two-story building where people lived and worked was destroyed.

Serhiy Bratchuk, military expert and spokesperson for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army «South,» said this on Hromadske Radio.

«Unfortunately, we have four dead. It was a ballistic missile strike carried out by the enemy late in the evening,» Bratchuk stated.

Among the dead were a 43-year-old woman, a 22-year-old man, and a 16-year-old girl. Another 26-year-old woman died from her injuries in the hospital the following morning.

«Doctors couldn’t save her. The injuries were incompatible with life.»

The expert noted that the Odesa district was targeted by the occupiers. It was there that the two-story building, where civilians lived and worked, was destroyed.

«It was a completely civilian enterprise, and civilians worked there,» Bratchuk emphasized.

In total, 10 people were injured, with 9 of them hospitalized. Four are in serious condition. Another 10 people received psychological assistance on the spot.

The rescue operation has now been completed, Bratchuk added:

«The rescue operation wasn’t started immediately because the air raid alarm sounded again. As you can understand, the enemy’s tactics in such cases could complicate the situation. So, the rescue effort was delayed. But now, as far as I know, the search and rescue operation has been completed.»

Shelling of Odesa

It’s worth noting that the Russian army had attacked Odesa again on the evening of October 9. Yesterday, the death toll from that attack rose to eight.

Odesa has been hit for the fourth consecutive night. The night before, the enemy attacked the region using Shaheds, while this time they used ballistic missiles.

«Odesa has been hit for the fourth night in a row. The previous three nights saw attacks with Shaheds, but this night they used ballistic missiles,» said the HR correspondent.

In total, there were two air raid alarms related to the ballistic threat. During each one, a loud explosion was heard. After the second missile strike, windows shattered in homes within a radius of at least 5 kilometers. The explosions shook houses, and residents in Tairov district and Chornomorsk, where the strikes occurred — at the port infrastructure — heard them clearly.

«There were two alarms. During the first, residents of Tairov district and Chornomorsk heard a very loud explosion. At that time, it wasn’t clear what had happened. But shortly after, the alarm sounded again, followed by another loud explosion. Windows shattered within a radius of at least 5 kilometers, and houses shook. It became clear that a ballistic missile had struck the port infrastructure in Chornomorsk,» Afanasyeva explained.

During the ballistic attack, monitoring channels inaccurately reported the situation. During the second alarm, they announced that the target had disappeared from the radar. Just seconds later, there was an explosion — the second missile hit.

This time, a Russian missile struck a vessel flying the Panamanian flag. It’s becoming common for Russia to target port infrastructure, with foreign-flagged ships frequently coming under attack.
