Despite Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, journalist, photographer and author of the “Ukrainian Fan Book,” Takashi Hirano, remains in Ukraine.

- Every day, from morning to evening, there are a great deal of programs about Ukraine, about this war, about the Ukrainian language, and about the country in general.
These programs are looking for experts in Ukraine or Ukrainians living in Japan. They often talk about Ukraine right now.
This phenomenon of great attention to Ukraine is good for the popularization of the Ukrainian language. It is all about Ukraine in Japan.

- In 2014, Japan imposed sanctions on Russia, but the sanctions were cosmetic, symbolic. They were not meaningful. And now, Japan has decided to do the right thing.
And they support as much as they can. Japan sent bulletproof vests and helmets (for the first time to Ukraine). They are looking for all sorts of ways to support.
