Those mobilized in LNR are armed with rifles from tsarist Russia — military expert

Russia plans to mobilize almost 60,000 people in the temporarily occupied territories of Luhansk region, the age limit to serve has been increased from 55 to 65 years. The mobilized are used exclusively as cannon fodder announced Dmitry Snegiryov, a military expert, during an interview with Hromadske Radio.

«Mobilized men are armed with rifles from tsarist Russia. We have documented the fact that the LNR militia was armed with Mosin rifles. They were in service 100 years ago, during the First World War,” Snegiryov explained.

According to him, these weapons remained in the warehouses of the former Soviet army in Russia. Russia, realizing that it lacks its own material and technical base to provide «mobilized» with modern weapons, give this mobilized scrap.

They are also given slightly more «modern» than helmet rifles, model 1968. At the same time, the Ukrainian military has Kevlar helmets, which allow to increase the degree of protection against shrapnel, the military expert added.
