Poland has signed one of the largest arms supply contracts in 30 years. A contract for 2.7 billion zlotys, or about 630 million dollars, stated Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki.

According to him, weapons from Poland will be important in the fighting for eastern Ukraine. According to Moravetsky, Ukraine receives part of the funds for these weapons from the European Union, and takes part of the funds from its own state budget. Poland plans to spend the funds on new research and development.

Minister of State Assets Jacek Sasin said that the value of the contract was PLN 2.7 billion, Ukrinform reports.

Politicians did not disclose details of the agreement. Instead, the Polish newspaper Dziennik reported on June 1 that Poland would sell Ukraine about 60 AHS Krab self-propelled artillery howitzers in addition to the 18 it had previously handed over.

The first batch of heavy weapons handed over by the German government will arrive in Ukraine at the end of this month.
