On the night of January 5, the Air Defence Forces successfully neutralized 21 out of 29 Shahed attack UAVs.

This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The attack, consisting of 29 Shahed-136/131 UAVs, occurred in two waves from the areas of Primosk-Akhtarsk (Russia) and Cape Chauda (Crimea). Mobile firing groups of the Defence Forces, fighter aircraft, and anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Force were deployed to repel the assault.

Air defenses effectively shot down 21 attacking UAVs across Mykolaiv, Kherson, Dnipro, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, and Khmelnytskyi regions. Some of the drones were directed towards the frontline areas of Kherson and Mykolaiv regions.

The Air Force reported that a significant majority of the drones were successfully intercepted by units of mobile firing groups from both the Air Force and the Defence Forces of Ukraine.

As a reminder, in the Bashtanka district of Mykolaiv region, warehouses of an agricultural enterprise were set ablaze on the evening of January 4 as a result of an attack by Shahed drones.
