67 civilians have been killed in Nikopol since the beginning of the shelling — head of district military administration
In Nikopol, located in the Dnipro region, 67 civilians have lost their lives, and 372 others have been injured since the summer of 2022, marking the onset of shelling by occupiers targeting the city. The impact of these attacks extends to approximately 800 apartment buildings and 5,000 private houses, as reported by the head of the Nikopol district military administration, Yevhen Yevtushenko, in an interview with Hromadske Radio.
Yevtushenko further highlighted that the damage extends to nearly 70 educational institutions.
«Cultural institutions, medical and religious facilities have also been damaged – all of them are counted in dozens. If you take the city of Nikopol, for example, it is a rare thing to find a building with all windows intact and no damaged roof», — the official added.
- The first attack by Russian troops on Nikopol occurred on July 12, 2022, when occupiers struck a residential area of the city using Grad multiple rocket launchers around 22:00.
According to Yevtushenko, 50-70% of the buildings in the city have been damaged due to the shelling by Russian terrorists. Notably, the occupiers have also targeted antennas, impacting essential communication infrastructure.
«We are talking about satellite communications, antennas that distribute mobile internet. They see everything as some kind of military antennas. We have a tower that used to broadcast T-2 television. The equipment on it has been completely destroyed, and the tower is heavily damaged», — explained the head of the Nikopol RMA.
As a recent development, the Russians have employed new drones equipped with night vision cameras in their attacks on Nikopol
