Ukraine’s air defense forces successfully destroyed 22 out of 33 ‘Shaheds’ launched by Russia overnight.
This was reported by the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
«On the night of 18 January 2024, the occupiers attacked with 33 Shahed-136/131 strike UAVs from the Primorsko-Akhtarsk area and Kursk region – Russia, and also struck Kharkiv region with two S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles from Belgorod region», – according to the statement
The primary directions of the attack were south and north.
The Ukrainian Air Force and Defense Forces managed to eliminate 22 enemy UAVs, while several others failed to reach their targets. The defense effort involved anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare equipment.
Air defense systems were deployed in Sumy, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Dnipro, Kirovohrad, and Khmelnytskyi regions.
