The Sumy region has recorded the highest number of attempted infiltrations by hostile reconnaissance groups — Demchenko
The Sumy region remains the primary target for Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups, as stated by Andriy Demchenko, spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, during an interview with Hromadske Radio.
Demchenko emphasized the ongoing activity of these groups, particularly in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions. However, he noted a decrease in infiltration attempts in the Chernihiv region recently. Despite this, the majority of hostile incursions are still concentrated in the Sumy region. For instance, on March 16th alone, three separate attempts by hostile groups to breach Ukrainian territory were thwarted.
Notably, on March 13th, evacuations were initiated in the border community of Velykopysarivska in Sumy Oblast due to heightened security concerns. This evacuation effort continues across Sumy region, with residents from 22 settlements in 3 districts of 6 territorial communities relocating. Over the past three days, more than 180 residents, including 84 from Velyka Pysarivka, have been relocated, with 20 of them being children.
