Investigation identifies Russian officer involved in the shooting of civilian cars in Gostomel
The deputy platoon commander of a special forces unit of the Russian National Guard in Krasnoyarsk Krai has been served a notice of suspicion for violating the laws and customs of war (Part 2 of Article 15, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to reports from the Office of the Prosecutor General, the investigation has identified a Russian occupier who participated in the shooting of civilian cars in Hostomel near Kyiv.
«In occupied Gostomel, the suspect and his colleagues received orders from their commander to target civilians. On February 25, 2022, while stationed in combat positions in the area of Shevchenko and Svyato-Pokrovska streets, he opened fire without warning at a civilian car traveling along Shevchenko Street towards Bucha.
The driver sustained multiple gunshot wounds, but managed to escape», — the statement detailed.
In total, the detachment’s servicemen were involved in the shooting of 12 vehicles in Gostomel, resulting in the deaths of 11 civilians and injuring 15 others.
