The Norwegian government has committed an additional 7 billion kroner ($600 million) to aid Ukraine in 2024.

According to Verdens Gang, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre outlined that NOK 6 billion (approximately $540 million) of this allocation will primarily go towards acquiring air defense equipment, with one billion designated for other forms of support, predominantly humanitarian and civilian assistance.

With this new funding, the total Norwegian assistance to Ukraine in 2024, including the recent expenditures, will amount to 22 billion kroner ($1.98 billion) in direct support.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Norway for this decision. In a tweet, he emphasized the importance of using a significant portion of these funds to bolster Ukraine’s air defense capabilities, which are vital for safeguarding human life. Zelenskyy conveyed his appreciation for Norway’s consistent support, understanding of Ukraine’s urgent needs, and willingness to stand by them during this critical time.
