Ukraine and Slovakia hold intergovernmental consultations

On October 7, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico are holding their second intergovernmental consultations.

Prime Minister Shmyhal shared this on his Telegram channel.

The meeting will focus on discussing the roadmap. This is a plan of joint activities that the governments signed during their first meeting. Key topics include cooperation on infrastructure projects, economic collaboration, and energy security.

«A significant portion of Ukraine’s electricity imports come from Slovakia, which has consistently offered its support», — Shmyhal noted.

Ukraine also plans to address several important issues with Slovakia. These include strengthening support for President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s peace plan, backing Ukraine’s EU membership bid, demining Ukrainian territories, providing humanitarian assistance, and rebuilding Ukraine.

«We continue to work closely on defence procurement. We look forward to signing bilateral agreements between Ukraine and Slovakia as part of our «new pragmatism» policy», — Shmyhal added.

As a reminder, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved key documents that will enable the country to secure an additional €62 million in financing for its energy sector. The money will be provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB).

This development was reported by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. He highlighted the importance of these funds for critical infrastructure projects. The funds will be allocated to essential areas like social infrastructure, energy, heat supply, and other key projects within local communities.

Shmyhal also noted that the coalition supporting Ukraine’s recovery and financial stability now includes numerous countries. More partners joining the effort.
