95% of Ukrainians support their own armed forces, which is a world record, no country in the world has had such a high indicator — political scientist
Ukrainians are less and less supportive of joining NATO. The figure returned to pre-war. These are from new figures from opinion polls done by the group «Rating.»
Guest: Ihor Reiterovich, political scientist, head of political and legal programs of the public organization «Ukrainian Center for Social Development».
Ihor Reiterovich: In the first days of the war, support for Ukraine’s accession to the Alliance was 62%. Then it increased to 76%. In the first week of the war, this support fell to 72%. Now there are fewer supporters — back to the pre-war level.
«Ukraine would be ready to join NATO even tomorrow, if we were invited. However, they are not calling on us,» proclaimed President Volodymyr Zelensky.
On the one hand, it is understandable why the level of support for NATO membership is declining among Ukrainians. This is because there is a statement from the Alliance officials that this issue is out of date. There is no unity, no consensus. In addition, not all countries will support Ukraine’s membership in NATO. On the other hand, I think that if we remove, for example, the history of the real prospects for accession, the vast majority of Ukrainians would like to see Ukraine in NATO. But the current situation and the level of assistance we are receiving is declining. Because we have financial aid and aid in the form of weapons, but we do not receive direct military aid. I think this is to some extent influenced by the great faith in our armed forces. In fact, our military can already teach NATO how to fight.

If we constantly hear from representatives of various parties that this issue is out of date, then we will not support this issue.
95% of Ukrainians are convinced that Ukraine will win the war against Russia.
However, the number of those who do not believe in a quick end has increased.
30% think that Ukraine will have a few weeks to finally stop the Russian offensive.
5% of respondents are convinced that Ukraine needs about a week to win.
16% believe that victory will come in six months or a year.
Ihor Reiterovich: 95% is an impressive figure. This is a record. In recent decades, no country where wars or conflicts have taken place has had such a level of support for its own armed forces. This is an absolute phenomenon. I’m sure a lot will be said about it.
We have already won because the goals set by Putin have not been achieved.
