Russian shelling ravages multiple Ukrainian regions
Kharkiv Region
Russian military forces unleashed a barrage of attacks on more than 15 settlements in the Kharkiv region, leaving a trail of destruction and claiming at least two lives. Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Synehubov, reported artillery and mortar attacks in several districts, including Okip, Bohodukhiv, Kozacha Lopan, Gatyshche, Pletenivka, Chuhuiv, Sinkivka, Ivanivka, Berestove, Kupyansk, Fedorivka, Vovchansk, Tabaivka, and Pishchane.
The city of Chuhuiv faced two relentless attacks from the Russian army, causing casualties and substantial damage. Mayor Galina Minaeva reported the destruction of a school, resulting in the tragic loss of a school employee’s life and injuries to others. The deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure has left over 15,000 subscribers in 64 settlements without electricity, impacting the region’s infrastructure.
Kupyansk also bore the brunt of the Russian assault, with an apartment building being targeted. The shelling resulted in the death of a 57-year-old woman and injuries to a 57-year-old and a 61-year-old man. Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, emphasized the ongoing inspection of the shelling sites.
Kherson region
The night of January 18 brought terror to the Dniprovsky district of Kherson as enemy drone attacks left a 50-year-old woman injured. Head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, revealed that over 116 attacks were conducted, including the targeting of the city of Kherson with 57 shells. Residential areas, factories, a park, and a warehouse in Kherson were hit, resulting in two fatalities and seven injuries.
In Beryslav district, the Russian military targeted an administrative building and a farm using Shahed drones. The attacks resulted in casualties and emphasized the indiscriminate nature of the aggression.
Sumy region
Russian troops launched an attack on the Bilopilska and Seredyno-Budska communities in the Sumy region on the night of January 18. The Sumy Regional Military Administration reported two rounds of firing targeting border areas and settlements, with explosions documented in both communities.
The Bilopil community faced shelling with SPG, recording five explosions, while the Seredina-Buda community was targeted with cannon artillery, resulting in four explosions. The escalation of violence in the Sumy region adds to the growing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine as Russian forces continue their aggressive campaign.
