Russians may try to outflank Chasiv Yar — National Guard spokesman

Russian troops continue their offensive in the area of Chasiv Yar. They are attempting to cross the canal and enter the main part of the city. Fighting is also occurring to the east and south of Chasiv Yar.

This was reported by Colonel Ruslan Muzychuk, spokesman for the National Guard of Ukraine, on Hromadske Radio.

«The canal itself and the water barrier, in general, are important elements of defense. The enemy has been trying to assault this area for a long time. The number of infantry groups they send to this area has a significant advantage. Chasiv Yar is one of the points where the Russians are trying to succeed and enter the city.»

Muzychuk notes that Russian troops are trying to advance not only from the canal but also from the village of Ivanivske and south of Chasiv Yar:

«They are conducting active military operations in the area of Klishchiyivka and Andriivka to achieve certain tactical successes and ensure advancement, in particular, south of Chasiv Yar.

Actions in the area of Ivanivske may indicate that the enemy does not rule out the possibility of maneuvers. Particularly trying to outflank Chasiv Yar and displace our forces», — Muzychuk said.

According to the colonel, the main tasks of the National Guard in this area are the effective use of UAVs, particularly FPV drones. They are used to conduct reconnaissance and drop explosive ordnance to stop Russian attacks.

«FPV drones are also effective against equipment. In this area, our servicemen destroyed even tanks that the enemy tried to protect with additional armor.»

The fact that the fighting is taking place within urban areas makes it somewhat difficult to track the enemy and use drones, Muzychuk added.

As a reminder, Ukrainian forces have recently withdrawn from the Kanal neighborhood in Chasovyi Yar to take up more favorable positions and preserve personnel.

This decision was made by the high command to improve the logistics of the Ukrainian military.
