«All three floors of the hotel have been destroyed» — the chairman of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council about the consequences of the attack on the city
The Russians attacked Kryvyi Rih in the morning, injuring five people in a rocket strike, including a 10-year-old child.
Oleksandr Vilkul, chairman of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council, discussed the aftermath of the attack on Hromadske Radio.
«The occupiers targeted a hotel in the city center. All three floors of the building were destroyed. Fortunately, there were no casualties.»
Vilkul noted that the child and another man are currently hospitalized, but their lives are not in danger. Three additional victims were treated at the scene and did not require hospitalization.
He added that the destruction is extensive, with a minimum of 32 high-rise buildings damaged. More than 1,000 windows were shattered, and at least five roofs need to be replaced. Additionally, four educational institutions, including schools and universities, were damaged.
«The circus was also damaged, along with the Palace of Youth and Students. Numerous shops, business facilities, and cars were affected as well.»
A headquarters has been established in the city to distribute construction materials to those whose homes were damaged by the rocket attack. Utility worker groups have also been formed to assist the elderly and people with disabilities. Vilkul mentioned that residents can also apply for financial assistance at this headquarters.
Currently, according to the head of the city’s Defense Council, education in Kryvyi Rih is conducted in a mixed format.
«A survey was conducted. Fifteen percent of parents chose online education, another ten percent opted for offline education, and 75% voted for a mixed form. However, offline education is only held in locations with certified shelters.»
Vilkul added, «Mostly, even when there is no alarm, classes are conducted in shelters to avoid the need to constantly move up and down.»
«This is the third strike on the city in a week.»
